Bhubaneswar: In view of the Met department’s prediction that hot and humid condition will continue for next seven days, the Odisha government has extended the summer vacation of schools by three more days.
The schools will reopen on June 21 instead of June 18 now, School and Mass Education department secretary Pradipta Mohapatra said.
The weather department has predicted that the heat wave condition will continue for at least one week due to weak monsoon.
Yesterday, the mercury shot up to more than 40 degree Celsius at eight places in State. Titlagarh recorded the highest of 42 degree Celsius followed by Bhawanipatna and Angul which registered 40.7 degree each.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack sizzled at 40.2 and 40.1 degree Celsius respectively.
