Chilika: As many as four fishermen were critically injured in an explosion occurred during construction of boats on the bank of Chilika lake here today.
Though the exact reason behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained it is suspected that boxes containing chemicals for fibre coating of boats could be the reason behind the blast.
The injured persons have been identified as Abinash Behera, Babul Behera, Abhiram Behera and Narasingha Behera of Arakhakuda village.
According to sources, the blast occurred when the fishermen were busy in constructing boats. The four fishermen sustained critical injuries on their face, hand and legs.
The injured persons were immediately rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
On receiving information, police reached on the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
