5,000 more seats in Govt ITIs in next 2 years, pact signed for soft skill improvement

Bhubaneswar: The State Government has decided to increase the intake capacity of State-run ITIs by 5,000 seats in next two years and signed a tripartite memorandum aiming at improving life skills and soft skills to the trainees.

The agreement was signed among the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), Tata Strive “Tata Community Initiatives Trust (TCIT) and Susmita Bagchi was singed for implementation of soft skills programme in Odisha ITIs in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here today.

“At present, the State has 49 Government ITls with intake capacity of 17,699 seats. At least 21 new Government ITls are in the process of constructing which will add about 5,000 seats over a period of next two years,” said Patnaik after the MoU signing ceremony.

Through   this  Tata   STRIVE-Bagchi    Soft  Skill  Training   programme,  the Youth Development Module (YDM) of Tata STRIVE  which  primarily  covers  all aspects of Employability Skill subject will be implemented in 10 selected ITls covering 8,000 trainees   over a period of  two years.

There is philanthropist consortium between Tata-STRIVE and Susmita Bagchi, noted Odia   writer and eminent philanthropist and wife of Chairman, OSDA.

The funds required to the tune of Rs 8 crore for implementation of the soft skill module will be leveraged on the basis of 50% by Tata-STRIVE under CSR interventions in Odisha and balance 50% by Susmita Bagchi.
