Bhubaneswar: Defence analyst and columnist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who has been lodged at Jharpada Special jail following his arrest for making derogatory remarks on Odisha and Odia culture and Konark Sun Temple, was admitted to Capital Hospital here after he complained of stomach pain.
Iyer-Mitra is in jail since October 23 in connection with a case registered against him in Saheednagar police station for his alleged defamatory remarks on the Konark temple and Lord Jagannath in September this year.
He is now undergoing treatment in the Surgery Ward of the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Legislative Assembly accepted the apology tendered by Iyer-Mitra and dropped the matter pertaining to ‘derogatory’ comments made by him on the State Assembly and its members.
He was arrested by Saheednagar police for making derogatory comments on Odisha, its places of worship, culture and MLAs.
Iyer-Mitra who posted a video on his twitter handle criticising and making derogatory comments on the people of the State, the Konark temple and Lord Jagannath in September this year was arrested by Odisha police on October 23, the day he first appeared before the Assembly House panel, after two FIRs were registered against him at the Konark police station in Puri and Saheed Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar.
