Bhubaneswar: Making derogatory statement against Odisha and its culture and heritage cost Abhijit Ayer-Mitra dear as Delhi police arrested him and produced before Saket court before interrogating him on the issue.
His arrest was confirmed by Odisha police. Two officials of Odisha have left for Delhi to bring him to State on transit remand. The police moved the court seeking his remand.
His remark against Odisha, Jagannath temple, Konark temple and State MLAs drew sharp criticism from all quarters. Odisha Assembly also raised the matter and members cutting across party lines expressed deep concern and demanded strict punishment for him during a special discussion on a privilege motion moved by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Narasingha Mishra against him.
Later, Speaker formed a House Committee headed by LoP Narasingha Mishra to probe into the matter. The Committee will submit its report on the first of next Assembly session.
