Puri: The activities inside the Jagamohan at Bhitara Katha of Sri Jagannath temple will come under the security scanner following the recent brawl between the servitors and a Maharastrian devotee.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to install CCTV cameras at vantage points near Bhitara Katha, which can monitor the activities of priests and devotees, SJTA (ritual) Administrator Pradeep Das said.
The cameras will monitor devotees and servitors to detect any wrong doing in their midst, especially during crowd movements.
However, the cameras will function only during general darshan and remain off during secret rituals of the deities, he added.
On Sunday, a devotee identified as Chetan Ganpat from Maharashtra was injured after being allegedly attacked by two servitors near Bhitara Katha. The two accused servitors, Madan Mohan Khuntia and Somanath Mekap were suspended following the incident.
