Bhubaneswar: A day after senior Congress leader Suresh Routray openly opposed the ‘One Man One Post’ rule of the party, chairman of the PCC campaign committee Bhakta Charan Das today also rejected such rule saying that winning prospect of a leader is the parameter for candidature.
“Any office bearer can contest election. But, he/she should have good public rapport and organisation. He should have a greater possibility of winning,” Das said.
The One Man One Post issue cropped up after resignation of Salipur MLA Prakash Behera from the post of Cuttack District Congress Committee (DCC) president.
Prakash had cited that he resigned from the post in order to focus more on his constituency while PCC president Niranjan Patnaik had said that Behera took such decision due to One Man One Post rule.
Former Minister Suresh Routray who has been appointed as DCC chief of Khurdha, also opposed such rule in the party. He said yesterday nobody can prevent him from contesting the poll. “If such rule is implemented, PCC president and all working PCC presidents would not contest the poll,” he had said.
