Ambulance delay leads to patient’s death in Puri

Puri:  Tension prevailed at Aingala village under Kakatpur block in the district on Monday following death of a patient allegedly due to delay in ambulance.

Locals detained the ambulance vehicle and its staff for reaching late which, they alleged, led to the death.

According to reports, Krushna Barik, wife of Jhantu Barik felt severe pain in her abdomen late last night following which her family members called up the ‘108’ ambulance around 12.45 AM in the night. But the ambulance arrived at nearly 5AM in the morning. By the time the woman already died.

Following the incident, the locals detained the ambulance and its staff and demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased.
