Sambalpur/Cuttack: Arrested BJP leader and former minister Jayanarayan Mishra who has admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Burla three days ago, has been shifted to SCB Medical Coillege and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
Mishra, an accused in Banabira firing case of Bargarh was taken to VIMSAR on Saturday from Sohela jail after he complained of chest pain.
His blood pressure was fluctuating for last few days. Doctors suspected that it may create cardiac problem and had advised him to undergo better treatment.
Following doctors’ advice, he moved local JMFC court seeking permission for treatment at a multi-specialty centre. The court allowed him for treatment in Burla, sources said.
Mishra was arrested on March 15 and sent to jail for his alleged involvement in the attack on Labour Minister Sushant Singh’s brother in Banabira of Bargarh district during Bijepur by-poll in which a BJD supporter was killed.
The attack had taken place in the early hours of February 23, a day before the by-election to Bijepur assembly seat. Labour Minister Susanta Singh’s brother Subrat and three others were injured in the incident.
The attackers also fired at the vehicle. One of the four persons identified as Dileswar Sahu, the driver, had sustained critical injuries and later died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
