Bhubaneswar: After resigning from BJD, Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda today resigned from the Lok Sabha. He tendered his resignation to the Speaker of Lok Sabha.
Panda informed about the development through his twitter account.
While resigning from BJD, he had said he would resign from the Lok Sabha formally after meeting the Speaker after completion of the 11th day ritual of his father. However, he cannot meet her as she was in abroad, the MP informed through a tweet.
“In a letter to Naveen Patnaik on my intent to dissociate from BJD, I’d said on completion of my father’s kriyas I’d resign from LS. The day after they ended, I sought to meet Hon’ Speaker as per custom. It wasn’t possible & i understand she’s since gone abroad, so I’ve had it deliverd,” he tweeted.
The Kendrapara MP had quit the regional party on May 28 by submitting his resignation in a three-page letter to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He expressed his anguish at the treatment meted out to him for the last few years.
He was suspended from BJD on January 24 over alleged anti-party activities.
