New Delhi: Putting a step ahead its effort to bring a legislation reserving 33 per cent seat in Parliament and assemblies, BJD Parliamentary party leader in Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahtab today discussed with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, seeking his party support for the bill.
The meeting between the two leaders was held at the residence of Mahtab in Delhi. In 30- minute long discussion Akhilesh appreciated the BJD’s move in this regard.
BJD MP Pinaki Mishra had also met National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah two days ago and sought his support for the bill. Mishra also gave him a memorandum to Abdullah.
A BJD delagation had also discussed with All India National Lok Dal chief Abhay Singh Choutala. MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik also sought TRS’ support by meeting its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
BJD president and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik had passed a resolution seeking 33% reservation for women. Later, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh passed a resolution in Punjab Assembly for the same purpose.
