Bhubaneswar: After the arrest of gangster Tito’s close aide Bapu Parida, war of words between BJP and BJD took a new twist after photos of Parida with some ruling party leaders came to fore.
BJP hit out at the ruling party for giving favour to the criminal for his high rise in Kendrapara and other parts of the State.
“BJD leaders have great role in making Tito from a small seed to a big tree. Residents of Kendrapara and people of Odisha are well known about these leaders. Police should register case against them and start interrogation,” BJP State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said.
Similarly, BJD, in reaction to Bapu’s arrest, denied Harichandan’s allegation.
“Criminals always take shelter under big tree. BJD has never given him shelter. Bapu had attended various programmes at party office. Neither Naveen Babu nor any other leaders have shown favour to him. Nobody knew about his links with the gangster. Police have received clues from any reliable sources and arrested him,” said Sambit Routray, BJD leader and son of former Minister Damodar Rout said.
Bapu apprarently help the BJD leaders with logistics in organising rallies for the ruling party.
A close associate of Tito, Bapu was involved in murder cases, attempt to murder, cases under the Arms Act, extortion, dacoity, robbery, abduction and kidnapping.
He was arrested by the STF yesterday. As many as 28 cases are pending against him at diffrent police stations of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.
