BJP alleged breach of poll code by BJD

Bhubaneswar: A delegation of BJP today met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and submitted a memorandum alleging that BJD has violated the model code of conduct that came to effect from yesterday after announcement of poll dates for Lok Sabha and Assembly.

Even as the code of conduct has come into effect soon after the announcement of election, BJD is yet to remove its poster and banners featuring pictures of party leaders. This violation of election code of conduct, the BJP leaders said.

The LED bulb is still being provided to people at government PDS outlets. The hoardings of various government schemes have not yet been removed.

The BJD is influencing voters through these banners and posters, the BJP team alleged.

On the other hand, BJD targeted the CEO for deciding to conduct election in four phases in Odisha. BJD spokesperson Amar Patnaik said poll will be conducted in one phase in States like Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat where number seats are more than Odisha. But, here four phases election have been declared. Because, the election Commission is influenced by BJP, he alleged.
