Bargarh: Senior BJP leader and former minister Jayanarayan Mishra who has been lodged in Sohela jail of Bargarh, has been admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Burla following chest pain.
He was taken to the hospital amid tight security.
His blood pressure was fluctuating for last few days. Doctors suspected that it may create cardiac problem and advised him to undergo better treatment.
Following doctors’ advice, he moved local JMFC court seeking permission for treatment at a multi-specialty centre. The court allowed him for treatment in Burla, sources said.
Mishra was arrested on March 15 and sent to jail for his alleged involvement in the attack on Labour Minister Sushant Singh’s brother in Banabira of Bargarh district during Bijepur by-poll in which a BJD supporter was killed.
The attack had taken place in the early hours of February 23, a day before the by-election to Bijepur assembly seat. Labour Minister Susanta Singh’s brother Subrat and three others were injured in the incident.
The attackers also fired at the vehicle. One of the four persons identified as Dileswar Sahu, the driver, had sustained critical injuries and later died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
