Bhubaneswar: A delegation of BJP led by State unit president Basant Panda today moved to Raj Bhavan, demanding CBI probe into the construction of Gurupriya bridge, which connects mainland to 151 villages in cut off areas of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district.
The team led by Basant Panda met the Governor and submitted a memorandum demanding same. The BJP leaders said Rs 73.91 crore has been paid in excess to the contractor firm fraudulently.
Yesterday, BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapara had brought the allegation at a press meet and demanded an impartial probe.
PCC president Niranjan Patnaik had also brought similar allegation citing a letter from the office of the Principal Accountant General (Economic and Revenue Sector). The letter read that “undue benefit” was given to contractors of the Gurupriya Bridge.
He alleged that the government has misused the public money for the interest of private contractor firm.
On the other hand, BJD dubbed it as an outcome of jealousy of the saffron party. BJP became jealous of the Chief Minister due to successful implementation of the bridge in cut off areas, BJD spokesman Sasmit Patra said.
