Bhubaneswar: A day after BJP recorded historic win in Tripura by overthrowing Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who was the CM since 1998, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Sunday said that the saffron party will dethrone Naveen Patnaik Government in Odisha too.
Notably, the saffron party has won in Tripura and Nagaland, and is also hoping to be kingmaker iby forming Government in Meghalaya.
“The organisation that had awarded Manik Sarkar recently is the same organisation which had felicitated Naveen Patnaik. We have ended Sarkar’s reign in Tripura, so we will do the same in Odisha,” said Oram while addressing a press conference at the BJP part headquarters here.
Maintaining that though the BJP has lost the Bijepur Assembly bypoll but they are not dead.
“We are not dead. BJP will work for the protection of interests of Odisha and definitely come to power in the upcoming general elections,” said Oram.
“The BJD has not won the votes in Bijepur, rather it has bought the votes from the people. They won’t be able to do so in ensuing general elections,” rued Oram.
Reaffirming on BJP chief Amit Shah’s statement that the saffron party’s golden era will only usher in when it will form governments in West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, and Kerala, Oram said that lotus will definitely bloom in Odisha.
Reacting on Oram’s statement, Panchayati Raj Minister Pradeep Maharathy said that the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will only become the CM in the next elections.
Further referring to perplexed stand of BJP on Mahanadi water dispute of Odisha with its neighbouring Chhattisgarh Maharathy said, “The BJP-led Centre has done injustice to Odisha in the Mahanadi water sharing dispute and as there is no water in the State, the lotus will never bloom in Odisha.”
