Bhubaneswar: Training its gun against Odisha government for failing to ensure safety to women, the Mahila Morcha of State BJP today announced to launch a five-day long State-wide agitation from tomorrow.
At a press meet, Mahila Morcha president Prabhati Parida informed that the party will collect bangles from women across Odisha from tomorrow and send it to chief minister Naveen Patnaik by registered post as a mark of protest.
The latest move of the BJP came after the acquittal of two accused in sensational Pipili gang rape and murder case.
“As part of the BJP’s ‘Jabab Maguchi Odisha’ campaign, the party’s Mahila Morcha will hold programmes in various parts of the State. Several rape accused have been acquitted in the past and demonstrations will be staged in front of residences of all MLAs across Odisha,” said Parida.
The women activists of the party will also offers prayers in temples across Odisha on January 15.
BJD too countered the saffron party. BJD spokesperson Prashanta Nanda said, “They do not have any issues left and digging the past matters. Instead of politicising issues, the BJP should think about the welfare of the people.”
