Builder arrested for duping over Rs 4 crore

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) on Wednesday arrested owner of a real estate company for allegedly duping hundreds of people to the tune of more than Ra 4 crore on false promise of providing them flats and houses in the Capital city.

The accused as been identified as Premananda Mohapatra, the chief of Golden View Infrastructure Private Limited in Bhubaneswar.

Acting on tip-off, about the presence of builder in a mall, the officials of Crime Branch raided the spot and arrested the builder.

According to the latest reports, he has been taken to Crime Branch office after a medical check-up and he is being questioned.

Notably, Mohapatra had received over Rs 4 crore from people on the promise to provide them flat in Tamando area. He neither provided them with flats nor returned the money. Moreover, he threatened them when people demanded their hard earned money.

The people lodged a complaint following which Mohapatra was arrested.
