Bus fares slashed in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As the diesel price falls, the State Government slashed bus fares across categories on Wednesday.

While ordinary and express bus fares were cut by two paise per km, deluxe and AC deluxe fares were slashed by four paise per km. Notification to this effect was released by the Transport Commissioner.

As per the revised price, ordinary bus will now charge Rs 70 paise per km, while express bus will charge Rs 73 paise. Deluxe bus will charge Rs 101 per km and AC Deluxe will take 123 paise per km.

The revised price will come into force today.

“Due to decrease in per litre price from Rs 78.74 as on 15.09.2018 to Rs 73.56 as on 28.11.2018, leading to price reduced by an amount equal to Rs 5.18 in direct, the fare for stage carriages other than town buses plying within the State shall be fixed at decreased rate,” said a notification issued by the Transport Commissioner.
