Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday cleared as many as nine proposals.
The proposals included alienation of Government land worth 881 acre in four districts free of cost in favour of Union Ministry of Railways for construction of Daspalla-Balangir segment of the crucial Khurda-Balangir BG railway line, drinking water projects worth Rs 316 crore under its BASUDHA scheme which would benefit 2.79 lakh people in three blocks – Jeypore, Boriguma and Kotpad – in Koraput district. The projects would be completed in two years.
It also approved lease of Government land measuring 181 acres near Sambalpur in favour of IIM-Sambalpur for construction of permanent campus, withdraw provision regarding appointment of pro-chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).
As the Centre has notified only 1,235 acres of total 2970 acres of land as Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited at Chhatrapur in Ganjam dist, the Cabinet also approved proposal saying the company can utilize 1735 acre to set up private industrial park Odisha.
