Chief conspirator arrested in Jasobant Parida murder case

Dhenkanal: The chief conspirator in the murder of Dhenkanal youth BJD president Jasobant Parida was arrested by police today.

The accused identified as Subash Khuntia was the ninth accused in the case as police have already arrested eight persosns in this connection.

“Subash had provided information to the killers about the activities and movement of Jasobant over phone. On the fateful day, he had followed the movement of Parida and informed the killers. The killers had given him a mobile phone to pass information,” Dhenkanal SP Santosh Naik said.

Subash had also provided the gunpowder and other material for the making the bombs which were hurled at the car of BJD leader, the SP added.

Police had earlier arrested eight persons including two prime accused. While two prime accused were arrested from the Northeast India, six others were nabbed from Talcher in Angul district.

Parida was killed over suspected business rivalry on March 26.

When he was going in his car in Kamakhyanagar, a group of miscreants followed him in an SUV and hurled eight bombs at his vehicle near Gandhi Mandir in Kamakhyanagar in full public glare. Under attack, Parida came out of his vehicle and started running. But the attackers resorted to indiscriminate firing killing him on the spot.
