Bhubaneswar: Students of a school had a close shave after a portion of plaster fell off the ceiling while class was on in Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar today.
Demanding immediate repair of the school building, students of Satyasai Sevasram along with guardians staged dharna in front of the school.
“We ran out of the class room when a chunk of plaster fell down. Our teachers informed the higher authorities and they reached the spot for checking,” said a student.
Teachers of the school, who appraised the matter to CRCC, said such incident had occurred earlier also. But this time large portion of the cement plaster fell down. So, guardian became irate and stage road blockade in front of the school, a teacher said.
The CRCC officials who rushed to the spot for inspection said that they have informed the matter to higher ups. “The building will be repaired with 15 days. We will allot a class room for the students at Mother Public School till the building is repaired,” CRCC said.
Such incident also took place last year following which school teachers wrote to the higher authorities. But, the authorities turned a blind eye to the problem, school staff said.
The school building was constructed in 1992 and it is in a dilapidated condition.
