Berhampur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the second and third berths of Gopalpur Port and laid foundation stones for a slew of developmental projects in Ganjam district.
After the inauguration, Patnaik addressed a gathering near the Port. He said the port will boost martitime trade with creation of 8,000 employment opportunities. Gopalpur Port is expanding its capacity to 25 MT all-weather operations in this phase with an overall vision of 55MT by 2025, he added.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Rs 172-crore Harbhangi irrigation expansion project. It aims at facilitating irrigation to 3,763 hectares in 32 villages and piped 11 piped water projects in Sheragad and Hinjili blocks and 13 at Dharakote and Sanakhemundi blocks.
The CM also laid stone for development of Karamanganala road in Hinjili block and a bridge over Baghua river connecting Brahmanachai-Bolsara road.
The Chief Minister will later visit Garabandha of Gosani block in Gajapati district to inaugurate and lay foundation of projects worth Rs 631.24 crore.
