Bhubaneswar: The government today held construction company ‘Panda Infraproject’ responsible for Bomikhal flyover collapse that killed a labourer and injured others.
Based on the probe report which was submitted to the government today, Works Minister Prafulla Mallick said “The contract agency is completely responsible for the accident. It was not careful about the safety of the bridge. Even the labourers engaged in the construction were not skilled one. There were lacunae in safety measures taken during work,” Mallick said.
He said that the concerned company has been debarred from the work. The government will take over the charge of pending work, he added. The government will try to complete flyover work within two months. The construction will be verified by a third party before inauguration, the minister informed.
Similarly, fresh tender will be floated for Sambalpur and Jatani flyover, he maintained.
On the other hand, one of the directors of Panda Infra Project Prashant Panda has been arrested in connection with the mishap that took place on May 4.
A day after the mishap, Commissionerate Police arrested the managing director of the company which was executing the work.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a high-level probe into the incident in which a labourer was killed and another critically injured. It was the second mishap in nine months.
