Cuttack bus mishap: Case registered against driver

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police today registered a case against the driver of the bus that plunged from the Mahanadi bridge killing 12 passengers yesterday.

The case has been registered at Jagatpur police station against the driver Khageswar Muduli who was struggling for life in the ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Nrusingha Sahu visited hospital and met the injured.

The bus named Jagannath express with around 54 passengers on board felled 30 ft off the Mahanadi bridge after hitting a buffalo. The accident occurred after the bus hit a buffalo on the bridge, following which it veered off and plunged off the bridge. The animal also died in the accident and its body has been recovered. Around 12 passengers were killed while 42 others are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
