Damodar Rout expelled from BJD

Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Minister Dr Damodar Rout was on Wednesday evening expelled from the prime membership of the party by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

BJD state secretary Bijay Kumar Nayak confirmed this in a press statement.

Recently, Rout had created ripples in the political circle by alleging various irregularities and scams in the Naveen Patnaik Government.

After Rout put the government in trouble by raising sapling and cooperative bank irregularies, Rout was facing heat from within the party for his alleged anti-party activities.

Earlier, he had been driven away from the State Cabinet for targeting party leaders on various issues. Subsequently the vice-president post had also been taken from him.
