Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official programme during his visit to Bolangir on Tuesday and said the Chief Minister did not want the development of western Odisha.
“When the Prime Minister visits Bolangir for official programme, the Chief Minister despite being invited did not come. Instead, the CM managed to shed crocodile tears in the name of farmers in Bhubaneswar,” said Pradhan at a rally in Patharachepa in Bolangir district, also addressed by the Prime Minister.
Maintaining that the Chief Minister was doing politics at the cost of State’s development, the BJP veteran sought cooperation of all to make a New Odisha and New India as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
During his visit to the western Odisha district today, PM Modi launched several projects on Infrastructure development, connectivity, ease of doing business, a new railway line.
State Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Snehangini Chhuria represented the State at the programme.
Last time when Modi visited Baripada in north Odisha on January 5, Patnaik was not present there as he attended an official programme at Puri. Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick represented the State at the Prime Minister’s function.
However, the Chief Minister had attended the official function of the Prime Minister Modi when he came to Khurda on December 24.
