Dilip, Bijay quit BJP; party sees no loss

Bhubaneswar: Finally, former Minister Bijay Mohapatra and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.

Ray also resigned as MLA by submitting a hand-writted letter to Assembly Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat this morning.

While Ray posted about his resignations in the Twitter page, Mohapatra held a Press conference for the purpose.

However, the two have not disclosed which paety the would join or any other future plan they have.

While Ray said he quit the BJP as the Centre failed in keeping promises of constrcting a second bridge over the Brahmani river at Rourkela and and upgrading of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a medical college, Mohapatra said the BJP has no concern for people of Odisha.

Meanwhile, the BJP said resignation of the two leaders would be no loss it.

Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray quit the party after failing to get relief from CBI in coal scam case and Bijay Mohapatra resigned because of his DNA that he creates groupism and disturbances wherever he goes, alleged BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty.

“Ray was trying to get relief from the coal scam case filed by earlier UPA government. However, he did not get any support from the party as the Prime Minister’s policy, ‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’ is being implemented in true spirit. His pleas of delay in construction of 2nd Brahmani bridge and converting IGH to a super speciality hospital behind his resignation are false, said Mohanty at a Press meet here.

He said the BJP has never neglected Mohapatra. He did not attend party executive meetings, still his membership was intact. However, he alleged that Mohapatra quit the party due to his DNA complication.
