Bhubaneswar: The women wing of Odisha BJP today staged agitation against Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and burnt his effigies, demanding his arrest and ouster from council of Minister for giving such deregatory remark against women.
BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida said the agitation will continue till he is not arrested and removed from his post. She added that CM Naveen Patnaik has shielded him even as he is giving such objectionable statement against women several times.
The Morcha supporters of the party had also staged an agitation in front of Maharathy’s residence in Bhubaneswar. They also faced off with police while attempting to barge into his residence. Later, they also lodged a complaint against him at Delang police station.
The minister landed in soup over a video purportedly showing him making derogatory remarks against women. The video which has since gone viral quoted the minister as saying that 30,000 women have 60,000 husbands.
