Bhubaneswar: Residents of CDA area in Cuttack were panicked and spent sleepless night after a wild elephant sneaked into the human habitation and roamed, putting forest officials and locals into a tough time.
Locals spotted the elephant in Sector-VIII and IX of CDA and informed the police.
The police and forest department officials reached the spot to drive away the pachyderm. Forest department officials have been creating awareness among the people not to scare the elephant.
Vehicular movement has been restricted in the area for today. The forest officials will start operation after evening to drive away the animal if it doesn’t go out on its own.
“We have spotted the elephant in front of Prachi Hospital in CDA. Our staff is present there. We will drive out the elephant. People have been advised not to tease the elephant. We have asked people to use alternate routes for communication,” said Cuttack Range ACF, Bikram Deb Pattnaik.
