EOW arrests four in RMRC fund fraud

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Friday arrested four persons for allegedly misappropriating Central Government fund at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar.

The accused have been identified as T Pandu Ranga Rao of Visakhapatnam, Achyutananda Das of Bhadrak, Ranjit Kumar Sarangi of Ganjam and Vinod Kumar Singh of Mumbai. All were suppliers of RMRC of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The arrest was made on the basis of complaint lodged by RMRC Administrative Officer in connection with the case.

Earlier in this case, Dilip Kumar Mohanty, who was working as steno in the RMRC office was arrested and forwarded on March 28, 2016.

During investigation, it was further ascertained that T Pandu Ranga Rao had received undue and excess amount of Rs 3 lakh. Similarly, Achyutananda Das, Ranjit Kumar Sarangi and Vinod Singh had received Rs 13,23,130, Rs 2.60 lakh and Rs 8.25 lakh, respectively in connivance with Dillip Kumar Mohanty by producing fake documents and using the same as genuine.

Further investigation in the case is continuing.
