Bhubaneswar: Former director general of All India Radio Giridhari Mohanty today joined BJD in presence of CM and party chief Naveen Patnaik at his residence.
Patnaik welcomed him to the party and said he will be a great asset for the BJD. “I am glad that Giridhari Mohanty has joined Biju Janata Dal today. He has held many distinguished position in central government. He will be a great asset for the party,” Patnaik told media in his reaction.
Mohanty, who was earlier working as a spokesperson for CBI, said that he got an opportunity to serve people of Odisha. “I will try my best to perform well in the party. I would take care of all responsibilities what would be assigned to me,” he added.
Mohanty has an outstanding calibre to face media for which CBI had engaged him as spokesperson for six years.
Sources said BJD has planned to give him the charge of party spokesperson. The party is likely to give him the responsibility of advertisement during 2019 elections. Besides, Mohanty is likely to be roped in to counter Modi’s ‘Man Ki Baat’ programme.
