Jeypore: Former president of youth BJD of Jeypore was arrested from west Bengal in connection with the firing on a father-son duo that took place on September 25 at Raja Naar chowk in Jeypore.
The ex-youth leader of the BJD identified as Bikash Patra was wanted by police as he allegedly masterminded the attack. Earlier six persons were arrested in the connection. Patra who was on the run since the crime was committed was nabbed from yesterday from West Bengal. He has been taken to Jeypore and is being interrogated. He will be produced before court today.
Bikash was earlier suspended from the party. Patra along with his associates had opened fire at Narendranath Nayak and his son Santosh over some past political rivalry.
The father-son sustained injuries in their legs and abdomen areas.
First, the two were rushed to a hospital in Jeypore and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated.
