Bhubaneswar: In what could be a major embarrassment for State Congress, Sunita Biswal, daughter of veteran party leader and former chief minister Hemananda Biswal, today joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at in presence of BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence here.
The CM welcomed her to the party and said that her joining will strengthen BJD. Former Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das was present during her joining.
“I am glad that Sunita Biswal, daughter of Hemanand Biswal, prominent Congress leader of Sundargarh district along with others joined BJD today. I welcome all of them to the party”, the CM said.
While responding to media, Sunita said that she was attracted by the leadership and ideology of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and that lured her to join the BJD.
On the other hand, Sunita’s father Hemananda, who is currently heading disciplinary committee of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, said that she is not minor. “She can take her own decision. I will campaign for Congress and she will do the same for her party”, Biswal said.
Hemananda is a prominent face of Congress party in western Odisha. However his daughter Sunita is a novice in politics.
