Bhubaneswar: Former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda has allegedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances from a hotel in Kolkata.
Nanda who was supposed to return to Bhubaneswar by flight at 7 am today did not show up while his mobile phone has remained switched off.
Nanda is yet to check out of the hotel and his luggage is still in the room, said the former lawmaker’s son Sambit Nanda who has left for Kolkata to find his father’s whereabouts.
Sources said the local police Kolkata has already started an investigation into the incident.
On June 4, Nanda had a narrow escape after bombs were hurled at his vehicle while he was leading a people contact programme to Karmul in Gondia block of the district.
The incident occurred when Nanda was travelling in his SUV during the Dhenkanal Swabhiman Manch rally while his supporters were accompanying him on motorcycles from Deogaon to Karmul under the people contact programme. The crude bombs shattered the glass of the vehicle’s window but none was hurt in the incident.
