Mayurbhanj: A man was arrested from Khunta Damodarpur village in Udala for allegedly cheating women on pretext of marriage by posing as IAS officer.
He was also accused of duping people of lakhs of rupees by posing as an IAS officer. He was arrested on Monday night by Khunta police in connection with a case in Malkangiri district.
The accused identified as Rajat Panda hails from Tihidi area in Bhadrak district. He had married a woman at a temple in Udala on May 20 after identifying himself as Lingaraj Panda, Sub-Collector of Malkangiri district.
He has many cases pending against him. He was arrested in 2015 for his alleged involvement in the Seashore Group chit fund scam and lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar for nearly 18 months, sources said.
