The BJP activists led by party State vice-president Ashwini Sarangi also sat on dharna outside the Bargarh SP office protesting the attack. They demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
They alleged that the attack was carried out at the behest of BJD and Labour Minister Sushant Singh.
BJP MLA Rabi Naik had also accused Minister Sushant Singh of masterminding the attack to which Singh rubbished the charges. Naik had also stage dharna inside the Assembly yesterday.
Singh said the fight happened after the BJP men first attacked some of his supporters.
Separate complaints were lodged at local police station from both the sides.
Sources said BJP State general secretary Ranjan Patel and Yuva Morcha secretary Irashish Acharya were attacked murderously near Court square at Sohela yesterday.
They were admitted to district headquarters hospital in critical condition. The incident took place when both the leaders were going to Sohela jail to meet former minister and senior party leader Jayanarayan Mishra.
Jayanarayan was arrested in connection with the attack on minister Sushant Singh’s brother during Bijepur by-election in which a man was killed.
