Bhubaneswar: After a prolonged spell of bone-chilling cold, now fog is badly affecting air, road and rail traffic across the State. At least four people were killed and several sustained injuries in separate accidents due to foggy conditions early on Monday morning.
While three persons were killed and five others were injured after an Bolero collided with a truck near Kaktia square on Cuttack-Chandbali road under in Kendrapara district due to dense fog this morning.
The deceased persons were identified as Bhagabati Rout (40), Bibhu Rout (20) and Subrat Behera (22). All were from Rajnagar area.
According to reports, a Bolero carrying few passengers from Cuttack towards Balikana village in Rajnagar in Kendrapara district collided head-on with a Hyva coming from opposite direction at around 6 am near Kakatia Square near Chandol in Kendrapara district.
Three persons died on the spot while five others were rushed to Nischintakoili Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment. They were later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
In Jagatsinghpur, one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding in rammed into a tree near Rahadinga square on Jeypore road. The accident occurred due to poor visibility caused due to dense fog, sources said.
In Nayagarh too, three persons sustained critical injuries after an ambulance overturned near Daspalla Dam Square while it was on its way to pick a patient from Rangamatia. All the injured were rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.
