Bhubaneswar: Noted freedom fighter and former minister Dolagovind Pradhan passed away today at his residence in Bhubaneswar. He was 93.
Many noted freedom fighters, politicians paid their last respect to the departed soul.
Pradhan had been elected from Cuttack Sadar Assembly seat twice from 1980 to 90. He had held the portfolio of Urban Development department from 1989 to 1990.
Influenced by the ideology of Gandhiji, he had joined the Quit India movement in 1942. He had been awarded three years jail term by joining the freedom movement. He had been lodged in Cuttack and Berhampur Central jail.
He is survived four sons and three daughters and wife.
His last rites will be performed at around 5 pm at his native Gatiroutpatana Dihasahi.
Odisha Assembly also observed one minute silent prayer as a mark of respect Pradhan today.
