Gajapati makes rare presentation before CM on Jagannath Temple, steps to protect cultural heritage of Puri

Bhubaneswar: Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Thursday met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here and discussed on the development of the temple periphery.

He made a power point presentation of five proposals for the development of the temple periphery during the meeting.

He also discussed about the development of Badadanda and Atharanala. The delegation also demanded to renovate the heritage garden at the Jagannath Ballabha Matha and construction of an Adarsh Gurukula in Puri.

“We presented five proposals related to the development of Shree Jagannath temple periphery, the Grand Road (Badadanda), Shree Gundicha temple and Atharanala in Puri,” said the Gajapati.

The beautification of the Gundicha temple was also demanded.

He further said, “One of the proposals relates to the development of a garden of Lord Jagannath inside the Jagannath Ballabha Mathat as a heritage garden and other facilities for the tourists and devotees.

He also said, “After proper planning and Government order, the working drawing will be made and we will go ahead.”

Law Minister Pratap Jena said, “We discussed all the proposals presented by the Gajapati Maharaja in the presence of CM Naveen Patnaik. The main aim is beautification of Puri in order to attract tourists.”

Jena said work will begin only after getting the detail project report.
