Bhubaneswar: In what comes as a severe jolt for outlawed Maoist organisation, a hardcore leader the banned outfit named Kunu Dehury has surrendered before Sambalpur SP, DGP RP Sharma said today.
He met SP Sanjeev Arora and expressed his wish to join the mainstream.
He was carrying Rs 8 lakh cash reward on his head, Sharma added at a press meet.
A resident of Jujumara of Sambalpur, Kunu had joined as a rebel in the Maoist outfit in 2002 and since then he was active in five districts.
As many as 51 cases are pending in his name at different police stations of Odisha, the DGP informed.
