Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra, who was undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, New Delhi, was granted interim bail by Orissa High Court on health grounds on Tuesday.
Mishra, who was arrested on charges of murder on March 15, was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on April 24 after his condition deteriorated. He was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar) in Burla on April 22 from Sohela Sub-Jail after he complained of ill health.
The former Minister was arrested on March 15 in connection with the Banabira firing incident that had taken place on the night of April 22 ahead of the Bijepur byelection in Bargarh district. While brother of Labour Minister Susanta Singh – Subrat – was among the four injured in the incident, one Dileswar alias Maggi Sahu, the driver of Subrat had succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at SCB.
