Bhubaneswar: A top official of the Hi-Tech Medical College was arrested from Jharkhand for allegedly defrauding a student of Rs 5 lakh with a false promise of getting his admission in the medical courses..
Accused Tirpuati Choudhury had promised one Ramdhar Pautik of Bokaro area in Jharkhand to fix a seat for him at the medical college and taken Rs 5 lakh from him in 2013.
However, he neither facilitated Pautik’s admission nor return his money. The student lodged a police complaint following which he was arrested.
Based on a warrant, Dhanbad Govindpur police on Tuesday arrested Choudhury with the help of Bhubaneswar Saheed Nagar police from his office.
Police planned to take him on transit remand after producing him in a local court. Earlier, Choudhury was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch in a land fraud case
