Homecoming: Ex-MLA Jitu Mitra turns back to BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA from Khurdha Jyotirindra Nath Mitra alias Jitu Mitra today joined BJD in presence of party chief and chief minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence. His joining BJD is a homecoming he had earlier been elected to Assembly from BJD in 2004. But had left BJD in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested poll on BJP ticket from Khurdha.

Earlier in 2000, he had also been elected independently.

After his joining, BJD president Naveen Patnaik said that it will strengthen the party.

“I am glad that Jitu Mitra has returned to the Biju Janata Dal again. His joining will strenthen the party I welcome him back” CM Naveen Patnaik said.

Jitu said that he made a homecoming as BJD is his old home. “BJD is my old home. I have returned to my home again. As the election dates have already been declared, we will work together to win Khurda seat”, he added.

Speculation is rife that BJD may field him from Khurdha assembly segment.
