Her son Shishir Gamang however said that he and his father Giridhar Gamang will stay in BJP and will not return to Congress.
Hema had resigned from BJD in April last year, citing government negligence towards her constituency. BJD had also allegedly ignored her and supporters in many occasion.
She had joined the BJD just before Assembly elections in 2014. She unsuccessfully had contested from Laxmipur assembly constituency on BJD ticket. She was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 on a Congress ticket. She was also a Congress MLA from Gunupur constituency from 2004 to 2009.
