Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Minister late Janaki Ballav (JB) Patnaik’s son Prithvi Ballav Patnaik is likely to contest election this time, most likely from Begunia constituency, once a strong hold of his father.
Speaking to media persons, he gave an indication party to contest and win the poll if party allows him. “I am working there to strengthen Congress. People are very happy and supporting me and Congress party. Congress workers are also encouraged a lot there whenever I am going there. I am sure that Congress party will come out with a flying colour”, Prithvi said.
When asked whether he would fight election from Begunia, he said “I don’t know who will fight from there. I want Congress should emerge victorious. If party gives ticket, I will try my best to perform well. Let’s see”, he told media persons.
Discussion is still in progress in Delhi on ticket allotment. Deserving candidates will contest. “We are now united under the leadership of Niranjan Patnaik. Not only in Begunia, but also Congress will come with a majority”, he added.
Prithvi had camped in Begunia and brought the congress workers together several times to bring back past situation that was prevailing during his father’s tenure.
