Jeypore landslide: Contractors’ body levels allegations against Third Floor

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the Jeypore landslide in which two JCB operators have been trapped under the debris, the All Odisha Contractors’ Association today brought severe allegations against the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for favoring the non-odia construction company and not arresting its owner in connection with the incident.

At a press meet, association president Prabhat Das said “DD Builders, a non-odia construction company which was engaged in the work, has links with third floor (CMO). This is the reason for which the owner of the company is not being arrested yet while construction company owner and its officials were arrested hastily in Bomikhal ROB collapse incident.”

“Surprisingly, the same company, DD Builders has been awarded the contract to complete the pending works of Bomikhal bridge”, he alleged.

On the other hand, army personnel are continuing operation by conducting minor blasting in the stone quarry to trace the two labourers who have been trapped under boulders for the last 10 days.

A technical team of the Army battalion in Ranchi which reached the spot on Wednesday blasted two huge stones at the quarry to clear the debris.

The district administration had also issued an advisory to vacate humans and animals within one km radius of the accident site to prevent any kind of collateral damage. At least 100 blastings are required to clear debris and trace the two labourers, sources said.

After the ODRAF and NDRF teams failed to clear the debris, Army personnel from Ranchi were roped in for the rescue operation. Two workers got trapped when a sudden landslide occurred at the stone quarry on May 31.
