Jeypore: Eleven days after the stone quarry incident, the body of one of the JCB operators trapped under the debris was recovered by the rescue team today. It is said that the body is of Ghanasyama Guru.
Ghanasyama’s father and other family members have taken to the spot for identification. Koraput Collector was present on the spot while the body was traced.
However, another JCB operator is yet to be traced. The army personnel, who are engaged in the operation, are trying to trace another who has been trapped under boulders.
A technical team of the Army battalion in Ranchi which reached the spot on Wednesday blasted huge stones at the quarry to clear the debris.
The district administration had also issued an advisory to vacate humans and animals within one km radius of the accident site to prevent any kind of collateral damage. At least 100 blastings are required to clear debris and trace the two labourers, sources said.
After the ODRAF and NDRF teams failed to clear the debris, Army personnel from Ranchi were roped in for the rescue operation. Two workers got trapped when a sudden landslide occurred at the stone quarry on May 31.
