Bhubaneswar: Sundargarh MLA Jogesh Singh, who had quit Congress last week after being suspended from the party over alleged anti-party activity, today resigned from the membership of the State Assembly.
He tendered his letter of resignation to the Speaker of Odisha Assembly.
The Congress party had suspended him last Thursday on charges of anti party activities. A day after he resigned from the party after writing to AICC president Rahul Gandhi.
Jogesh had expressed his inability to attend the meeting of the president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) scheduled on January 25 due to his pre-scheduled engagements.
He also praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for some developmental work.
The disciplinary committee of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) considered this statement, as he said, as the anti-party work.
He, however, refuted to agree that his statement went against the party.
