Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today extended the deadline for submission of application for KALIA scheme till January 15 in the first phase.

In view of the farmers’ attraction towards the scheme, chief minister Naveen Patnaik directed the authorities to accept the forms till January 15 instead of January 10.

He directed the concerned authorities while discussing with senior officials at secretariat regarding its implementation.

It was also decided in the meeting that the second phase application process will begin from January 25 and will continue till February 5.

Decision on third phase will be taken later, if required, Patnaik said.

He asked the officials to ensure that not a single deserving farmer would be deprived of the benefit.

Launched on December 31, the scheme, according to the Chief Minister, is an innovative package for farmers welfare. It aims to accelerate agricultural prosperity and reduce poverty across the state.

The government has earmarked Rs 10,180 Crore for KALIA in three years. The scheme will provide financial, livelihood, cultivation support along with insurance support to small, marginal and the landless farmers.
